Portsmouth is situated centrally on the South coast, with excellent links to the motorway. Brittany ferries offer several daily crossings to Caen in France, daytime sailings take 6 hours, while the night-time crossing lasts 8 hours (departure at 22:30). Ships operating on this route include Normandie, Duc de Normandie and Val de Loire.
