The Port of Tyne (Newcastle) is located just under 10 miles east of Newcastle City centre, on the north bank of the River Tyne. The modern ferry terminals operated by Fjord Line and DFDS Seaways deal with over 700,000 passengers a year and offer excellent facilities including covered walkways, check-in areas, and automated baggage handling.

DFDS Seaways provides daily crossings to Amsterdam (Ijmuiden) in Holland (duration: 15 hours; crossings leave Holland at 18:00).
