Ancona has become an important port in the last 20 years. Annually, more than 700,000 passengers use this terminal. Traffic is heavier in summer and mostly between the countries of northwest Europe and the countries of the Adriatic Sea, mostly Albania, Greece, Croatia and Turkey. The addition of high-speed carriers has created a considerably addition flow of passenger traffic with cars and trucks.

While in Ancona, there are several historical places to visit in a short time, including Trajan's Arch and St Cyriac's Cathedral, which overlooks the port. Within a few hundred metres, you'll also find Mole Vanvitelliana, Merchants' Loggia, St Mary in the Square, Jesus' Church and St Francis at the Stairs. Ferry routes between Ancona and Igoumenitsa are operated by Minoan Lines and ANEK Lines. On the Minoan Lines international service, there is a Patras-Igoumenitsa-Ancona route with daily sailings throughout the year. Departures are at 18:00 from Patras, arriving in Ancona at 12:30 the following day. The entire journey takes 28 hours, 30 minutes. ANEK Lines operates ferries on two different routes from Igoumenitsa: Igoumenitsa-Ancona and Igoumenitsa-Patras. There are daily departures on both these routes during the summer season.

Igoumenitsa is to the east of Corfu, on the northwestern side of Greece, in Epirus province. The town is an important ferry terminal and a tourist centre, being one of the country's gateways to Western Europe and a major hub for Adriatic Sea traffic.

Igoumenitsa?s ferry port terminal has a range of facilities within walking distance, including a bank, hotel, exchange and convenience store. The Greek Tourism Organization Office is only 400m away, and you will find public telephones and public conveniences at the port as well. All ferry companies and the ferry port provide facilities for those with disabilities, with special cabins available on board some vessels. Passengers are recommended to inform their ferry company of any special needs prior to travelling.
