Ajaccio is the main ferry port Corsica's western coast. The city lies in a pretty bay, and is set against wooded hills; while the ferry port area is fringed by palm trees and lined with colourful houses.

SNCM Ferries operates daily ferry crossings from Ajaccio to Marseilles in the south of France. From the port of Marseilles, there is daily ferry service to Ajaccio port. Sailings are overnight, 7 to 13 hours in length, and arrive at Corsica the following morning.
