Red Funnel Isle of Wight Ferries operates two services out of Southampton: a conventional passenger vehicle ferry and high-speed ferry service. The passenger vehicle service operates 17 departures daily (one less on Sundays), from Southampton to East Cowes. Departures are around the clock, 364 days a year, with the first sailing departing Southampton at 1:00 and the last sailing departing at 23:30. Journey time on the passenger vehicle service is 55 minutes and it departs Southampton from Terminal One.

The hi-tech Red Jets operated by Red Funnel only carry passengers and service several routes: Southampton-West Cowes, Southampton-Gosport, and East Cowes-West Cowes. It is important to note that crossings on the Red Jets are non-bookable i.e. passengers simply show up and go. The Southampton-West Cowes crossing takes just 22 minutes and departs from Southampton Terminal Two, an amazing 34 times a day, almost one every 30 minutes. There are slightly fewer sailings on Saturday and Sunday. The East Cowes-West Cowes crossing is serviced four times daily, Monday through Friday. The journey time is just 5 minutes. These ferries can only carry passengers.
