The Port of Southampton is owned and operated by Britain's largest ports group, Associated British Ports and is Britain's premier South Coast port. It is situated on Southampton Water at the top of the Solent, the port covering a vast area, and offering excellent facilities for all commercial shipping lines. The port processes almost 7 percent of all UK Seaborne trade, with over 35 million tonnes of cargo passing through annually. Southampton is also the UK's principal cruise ship port, with two dedicated cruise terminals.

There are two terminals at Southampton port. Terminal 1 is the passenger and vehicle ferry terminal, located at Dock Gate 7 on Town Quay Road Southampton. Terminal 2 is a hi-speed service and is located on Town Quay, Town Quay Road, Southampton. Both terminals are operated by Red Funnel.

Red Funnel Ferries operate out of Terminal 1, with multiple daily crossings operating to the East Cowes, on the Isle of Wight (duration: 55 minutes). Terminal 2 is also served by Red Funnel Ferries, with 22-minute crossings to West Cowes on the Isle of Wight.
