Traveling to Port
Transportation to and from the Port of Santander
Santander is located on the northern coast of Spain and provides a great entrance into the Spanish mainland. Santander has an excellent road network to speed you to other destinations in Spain or Portugal, while rail and bus connections are available to Spain, France and Portugal. Ferries sail twice weekly for Plymouth in the south of England.
Those travelling by car will find an excellent network of roads linking Santander with the rest of Spain, the Spanish Costas and Portugal. On leaving the port, take the N634 westwards along the coast towards Coruna, and eastwards towards Bilbao. The N611 travels south to Valladolid and the N623 connects the ferry port with Burgos.
RENFE is the national railway system and has connections to almost every town in Spain, while buses are also available from Santander to destinations in Spain and France.
