Transportation to and from the Port of Rethymnon

There are direct connections all year round from the port of Rethymnon to Piraeus, while transport around the island is facilitated by the public bus service.

By car, most towns and cities are accessible along the National Highway, which runs along the north coast of the island. To the east is Heraklion (80 km) and to the west is Chania (60 km).

A good bus network connects Rethymnon with nearby Chania and Heraklion to the east.

From the Eleftherios Venizelos airport at Spata, scheduled and chartered flights connect to the Chania and Heraklion airports on Crete, throughout the year. The duration of the flight is 50-60 minutes.

Ferries connect the port with Piraeus on mainland Greece, sailings available daily.

At the port, there are spaces for short and long-term parking, with specially designated areas available for those with disabilities.
