The Continental Ferry Terminal is served by P&O Portsmouth. P&O Ferries services several roundtrip routes originating from Portsmouth to Bilbao in Spain and three ports in France: Caen, Cherbourg and Le Havre. The Portsmouth-Bilbao route departs twice weekly on Tuesday and Saturday. The crossing time is 30-36 hours, onboard the Pride of Bilbao. The Portsmouth-Caen connection departs twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. This route is serviced by the Express Fastcraft, Caen Express. The Portsmouth-Cherbourg route is serviced four times daily, except on Friday, when there is a fifth sailing. This route is operated by the Pride of Cherbourg, Pride of Bilbao and the Express Fastcraft, with a journey time of just under 5 hours. The Portsmouth-Le Havre sailings depart 3 times daily, and are serviced by the Pride of Portsmouth and Pride of Le Havre. The journey time on this route is 6 hours.

Brittany Ferries sails from Portsmouth to Caen, taking 6 hours by day and 8 hours by night. A connection to Cherbourg sails daily from Portsmouth (4 ½ hours), while the twice-daily service between Portsmouth and St. Malo averages 8 hours, 45 minutes by day and 10 ½ hours by night.

The Isle of Wight Passenger Terminal is served by Wightlink Ferries, with several daily crossings running to Ryde on the Isle of Wight (duration: 15 minutes). The Isle of Wight Car Ferry Terminal is also served by Wightlink Ferries, and has several daily crossings to Fishbourne on the Isle of Wight (duration: 35 minutes).
