Ferry companies operating from the Port of Lerwick
NorthLink Ferries services the route from Lerwick to Aberdeen, in northeast Scotland. The ferry stops en route at Kirkwall in Orkney. There is one sailing a day, with some sailings skipping the Kirkwall stop and sailing directly to Lerwick. Departures from Aberdeen are either at 17:00 or 19:00, arriving in Lerwick the following morning at 7:30 - the 19:00 departures skip the Kirkwall stop. The Kirkwall call is also skipped during the winter months. The journey time for this crossing is roughly 12 hours.

Symril Line ferries sail along the following route: Hanstholm-Tórshavn-Lerwick-Bergen-Lerwick-Tórshavn-Seyðisfjørður-Tórshavn-Lerwick. This route is serviced once a week, departing Hanstholm on Saturday morning, arriving in Tórshavn 9 hours later. The ship docks in Tórshavn for 3 hours, before journeying another 13 hours to reach Lerwick. It then takes 13 hours to travel to Bergen, before the return journey, all the way to Seyðisfjørður.
