Traveling to Port
Transportation to and from the Port of Heraklion
Ferries connect the city with Piraeus on the mainland, as well as several other Greek islands, while transport around the island is facilitated by the public bus service and road network.
By car, most towns and cities are accessible along the National Highway, which runs along the north coast of the island. To the west is Rethymnon and Chania, as well as the town of Kissamos.
A good bus network connects Heraklion with nearby Rethymnon and Chania, further east.
