Ferry companies that operate from the Port of Helsinki
Five ferry companies provide sailings from Helsinki and Tallinn in Estonia: Silja Line, Nordic Jet Line, Tallink, Seawind Line and Eckerö Line.
Eckerö Line services only one route, linking Helsinki and Tallinn in Estonia. There are daily sailings with a journey time of 3 ½ hours, in both directions. Monday through Saturday the M/S Norlandia departs Helsinki at 8:00 and departs Tallinn on the return journey at 18:00. On Sundays, the departure out of Helsinki is at 10:00 and the return journey from Tallinn departs at 16:00.

Silja Line services the Helsinki-Stockholm route. Ferries depart once daily from Helsinki and call at Mariehamn of the Åland Islands en-route, before docking in Stockholm the following morning. The journey from Helsinki to Stockholm takes 20 ½ hours, while the journey as far as Mariehamn takes 11 hours and 15 minutes (ferries depart Helsinki at 17:00 and arrive in Stockholm at 9:30 the following morning). There are also a number of weekly crossings to Visby in Sweden. There are daily sailings onboard the GTS Finnjet from Helsinki to Tallinn in Estonia. The journey takes 3 hours and 45 minutes. This ferry departs in the evening from Helsinki and arrives the next morning in Tallinn. A faster sailing is on offer onboard the HSC SuperSeaCat Three and Four. These ferries sail the route five times daily in just under 2 hours - three times a day during the winter months. There are three crossings per week between Helsinki and Rostock in Germany, calling at Tallinn en-route. The journey to Rostock takes 24 hours, though it reaches Tallinn just three hours after departing Helsinki.
SeaWind Line operates a daily sailing from Helsinki to Tallinn. Departure times vary depending on the season, but the company operates one sailing on Monday, two sailings Tuesday-Friday and one sailing each on Saturday and Sunday. All are aboard the MS Star Wind and take about 3 ½ hours.
Nordic Jet Line provides an efficient crossing between Helsinki in Finland and Tallinn in Estonia. There are six departures daily from Helsinki, one less on Sundays, with the first sailing departing at 8:00 and the last one at 19:30. The same times are true for the return journey from Tallinn. The crossing takes 1 hour and 40 minutes. Passengers without vehicles must check-in 30 minutes prior to departure and passengers with vehicles 60 minutes prior.
Viking Lines operates two routes out of Helsinki. The Helsinki to Stockholm route stops at Mariehamn en-route, reaching Stockholm after 16 hours. The Helsinki Mariehamn section takes 11 hours and sailings are onboard the Gabriella and Mariella. This route is serviced once daily, with departures from Helsinki at 17:30, arriving in Stockholm 9:30 the following morning. There are two round-trip sailings between Helsinki-Tallinn, one during the day and one night sailing. The journey is 3 hours long aboard the Rosella, with one departure leaving Helsinki at 12:30 and the other at 21:00, arriving in Tallinn at 15:30 and 00:00 respectively. During the summer, the company also operates a roundtrip cruise between Helsinki and Riga in Latvia.
Tallink conects Helsinki with Tallinn in Estonia. There are daily sailings during the high season, with sailings onboard the conventional ferries, M/S Romantika and the M/S Meloodia, taking 3 ½ hours. There are also sailings on the two high-speed catamarans, AutoExpress 1 and 2, on a daily basis during the summer months, with crossings taking just under 2 hours.
