Danish ferry operator DFDS Seaways offers several routes from Harwich. The company sails from Harwich to Esbjerg three time a week, with a journey time of 18 hours. The Harwich-Cuxhaven, in Germany, route operates three times a week, with a journey time of 19 ½ hours. Both routes can accommodate passengers and vehicles. DFDS Tor Line, DFDS Seaway's freight subsidiary, sails to Gothenburg in Sweden and Hamburg in Germany from Harwich, however, only for freight.

Stena Line offers connections between Harwich and the Hook of Holland in the Netherlands, operating four times daily, with 2 of the crossings being overnight crossings. Two of the daytime crossings are on board the Stena HSS, with a journey time of 3 hours and 40 minutes and one daytime crossing is onboard the Superferry, with a crossing time of 6 hours and 15 minutes. The night crossings also take 6 hours and 15 minutes and depart Harwich at 23:00, arriving in Hook of Holland the following morning at 7:30.
