Dublin Port serves almost 1.5 million passengers per year, and ranks as the busiest passenger ferry port in Ireland. There are 18 daily sailings to destinations in the UK and continental Europe. The port is also served by cruise liners, which may travel up the River Liffey, into the city centre, docking at the Alexandra Quay, only 2kms away.

Facilities at the port include a coffee shop, baby-changing rooms and a convenience store selling papers magazines and snack foods. Five ferry companies have sailings out of the port, including Irish Ferries, Norse Merchant Ferries, P&O Irish Sea, Sea Containers and Stena Line.
