Port of Cephalonia

Book Cephalonia port ferries

Cephalonia is the largest of the seven Ionian islands, with it's highest peak, Mount Aenos, towering at 1628 m. Cephalonia has only 32,000 resident islanders, though this population grows during the summer season, with the influx of tourists. There are several ports on the island, the principal harbours located at Fiscardo, Sami, Pessada, Poros, Ag. Eufimia and Argostoli.

Port facilities vary, but include nearby shops and restaurants, with public conveniences and public telephones available in the harbour areas. The ports of Argostoli and Fisardo are picturesque towns, situated around a harbour, with many amenities within walking distance.

Fiscardo is 54kms northeast of Argostoli, a pretty and quiet town with Venetian houses and a beautiful harbour. Fiscardo has connections to Ithaca and Lefkada on a daily basis.

Sami is the port town for connections to Patras and Corfu. There are daily ferry links to Sami port from Ithaca (1 hour), Patras (3 hours), and several times a week with Corfu.

Argostoli is connected with Kilini (in Peloponnese) severals times a day, while hydrofoils operate between the port and Zakynthos. Ag. Eufimia has connections to Ithaca.

Pessada is connected on a daily basis to Zante (twice daily, duration 1 hour), while the port of Poros is linked to Kilini by conventional ferries (1.5 hours) and to Zakynthos by hydrofoil.

There is also a ferry service along the Astakos-Ithaka-Ag. Efimia route.

All ferries provide facilities for the disabled, including good wheelchair access and disabled toilets. There is also boarding assistance available at the various ports, though passengers are advised to inform the ferry company or the port authority of any special needs in advance of arrival.
