Excellent rail, road and bus services connect Caen with the rest of France, with ferries connecting to Portsmouth in the UK.
Caen ships dock at Ouistreham, located 15km north of Caen and can be accessed via a fast dual carriageway. There are efficient road links to Paris, Brittany, the Loire, the South West, the Mediterranean and the rest of Normandy.
From Paris the A13 cuts its way through Rouen (1½ hours driving) before forking to Caen (an additional hour, with a €4.72 toll). The N13 continues on from Caen to Cherbourg via Bayeux, taking another two hours.

From Paris Gare St-Lazare, train lines head to lower Normandy reaching Caen and Bayeux. France's train service SNCF (tel: 33 (0) 8-36-35-35-35) is an efficient service, providing fast and hassle-free links to the rest of the country. The SNCF service to Paris takes only 1hr 50 mins.
Caen's Carpiquet airport (CFR) (tel: 33 (0) 2-31-71-20-10) handles both domestic and international flights, offering a further method of arriving at the port.
Ferries depart daily for Portsmouth in the south of England, from where you may connect with ease to the rest of the UK.
