Port of Caen

Book Port of Caen Ferry Tickets here!

Caen is an historic Norman city offering one of the newest ferry-ports on the Channel. It is a short drive away from the autoroute to Paris and is also close to motorways leading to the south and west. Ferries connect the port with the south of England, with crossings offered by Brittany Ferries. Caen, which lies between the rivers Orne and Odon, was one of the many cities to suffer from the destruction wrought by the WWII. During D-Day the city was bombed and is reported to have burned for a week before being liberated.

The transmanche terminal is located in the west part of the outer harbour, before the locks passage, close to the swinging room area. It is used to transfer the passengers and freight on the 'Brittany Ferries' ships which provide a service between France and England (Caen/Portsmouth). Terminal facilities include a cafe, bureau de change, snackbar and newsagents.

There is good wheelchair access throughout the ferry terminal, with assistance in boarding provided for those with mobility difficulties. Passengers are advised to notify their ferry company of any particular needs at the time of making a reservation, to ensure smooth transit through the port.
