Polferries

Polferries, also known as Polish Baltic Shipping Company, is the largest Polish ferry operator servicing ferry routes between Poland and Scandinavia. The company was established in 1976, as a Polish state owned enterprise and is headquartered in Ko³obrzeg, Poland.

In 1994, the Polish Baltic Shipping Company was transformed into a wholly-owned company of the Polish State Treasury and soon after became legally recognised as a corporate entity, using Polferries as its operating name.

Since its inception, Polferries has gained considerable experience in providing efficient and reliable ferry services, as well as being a seasoned port operator. Up until 2001, Polferries owned two ferry terminals in Poland, one in Gdañsk and the other in Owinoujocie. Today the company still operates the ferry terminal in Gdañsk.

Polferries also has a subsidiary that provides tours and package holidays for travellers in Poland and Scandinavia. The Sea Travel agency has a network of seven offices throughout Poland, providing customer-oriented service for land-sea trips. Polferries also operates a travel agency called Polferries AB, located in Malmö, Sweden, which deals with agents throughout Europe to book its land-sea vacations.

As a ship operator, Polferries places great emphasis on safety and quality of its vessels and operations. In 1996, Polferries was certified under the International Safety Management Code (ISM) and, in May 1997, the company was recognised as meeting the requirements of the Quality Management Certificate ISO 9002.
