Guernsey ports

Guernsey is a Crown dependency, with both English and French influence and continues to use British currency. Aldernery is the island closest to France and a 15-minute flight away. St. Anne's is the capital, with narrow cobbled street and whitewashed houses, while Sark is beautiful and intriguing, with over 40 miles of coastline to explore. Just 20 minutes from Guernsey is the island of Herm, where little has changed in time. It boasts pristine nature with birds and exotic shells still abounding along its sandy beaches.

St. Peter Port is the capital of Guernsey, with the ferry Terminal only 10 minutes' walk or five minutes drive away from the city centre. There are many shops and restaurants in the terminal.

Condor Ferries offers a service from the Channel Islands to various destinations in the United Kingdom and France. Ferries departing from Guernsey travel to Poole, Weymouth, Portsmouth and St. Malo in France, while an inter-island ferry is also available between Guernsey and Jersey. The crossing between Weymouth and Poole takes two hours on board the fast-ferry, while sailings from Portsmouth to Guernsey take 6 ½ hours.

Emeraude Lines offers sailings to St. Malo in France. Vessels depart three times daily, every day of the week and take just over 4 hours. Journey time onboard the high-speed ferry is 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Local ferry companies providing access between the various islands are: Isle of Sark Shipping company (45 minutes ferry service to Sark), Travel Triden and Herm Seaways Express (20-minute ferry service to Herm).

The United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands form a common travel area and there is no passport control within this area. However, visitors from within this common Ttravel area are advised to carry some form of photographic identification. EU citizens may travel to Guernsey with their ID cards.
